Tattoo You

Morgan from the Steel Tigers of Death! has honored me by committing some of my art (and a dash of Jack Kirby) to his body, in what he calls an impulse tattoo.  Impulse Tattoo, is also my least favorite Rolling Stones album and possibly the greatest oxymoron.

I did this drawing as part of the studies and doodles that I did for the band when designing their album cover "The Steel Tigers of Death Proudly Presents The Steel Tigers of Death!"

This was the first version of the Local Native poster that I did with Rangotang this past summer.  I like how the final version turned out, but sort of liked the frenetic, textured look that this has.

Adam Carolla Book cover

I am a big fan of Adam Carolla.  I have to admit to being a little late to the "Ace Train", but here i am now.  He is just putting the finishing touches a book of rants, which I will be buying when it comes out.  My only complaint is that the book cover that he has for it is pretty bad.  I hope he didn't come up with the idea, my guess is that he didn't.  Anyway, I reinterpreted his book cover for him, so maybe the second printing or softcover can use it.

I went with a motif from the original book cover, and gave it a post-modern look.  If anyone knows him, feel free to send it over to him.  Also tell him if he wants to do any posters for his live dates, I'd be happy to hook him up.

OZ - identity

Here is my dog Oz's logo, for an upcoming website that will chronicle his life.  Yeah, things are that exciting.

Okay it is Summer already.

Yeah, it is Summer and I am trying to gear up for it.  In Seattle it has been even rainier than usual. We had our first bit of Summer weather this week.  I whipped these posters out in about 5 minutes to get me motivated to have a good Summer.  This is the last of the posters on this subject.  "Enjoy the Summer. make it Rad!"

Flower Power test

Further experimentation with a more mid-modern looking thing, which in this case is a flower. I wanted to play around with precision, texture, and pattern. Three things that I need to work on or are at least interesting to me since most of my art is sloppy.

Wood god - first crack.

This guy - needs a lot of work, but I thought I'd show him here first. I am thinking of trying to come up with a few more and do a zine about them.

I have been really hammering away at my portfolio these last months. Check it out - http://locind.com . I still have a few more things to do on it, but then it will be done. I also built a blog-folio to augment the portfolio.

I am planning on keeping this up for my own personal projects.

I have been working really hard on my new blog and website, and other things. this site is going to be a place to show videos and rough ideas. The other blog will have work related stuff. this place will be for fun. Enjoy.

A little new/olds gods action.

So decisions have been made and I am moving to Movable Type, but I am going to keep this blog going for all of my musings and sketches. The other "official Locind" blog will be for tha biz. This blog will be re-purposed to show case photos, sketches, and things that haven't been fully rendered. I will probably keep the Etsy portal and might even put some stuff up there. Now I know I 've said that I was going to do it before, but I mean it this time.

So this site has been fun and all, but I am thinking of trying out a new service. The new service, which I am trying now should make it easier to fully customize the HTML and CSS but still get the kind of functionality that you all expect. So in the next few weeks if you are re-routed don't be alarmed. I'll give you a little more notice before/if I change.

That is right kiddies, the official STD's calendar. The band has them and will be selling them at January shows so get them before they sell-out, the calendar not the band. The band would never sell-out. I will have 2-3 up on Etsy next week. These are SUPER limited so act quick.

I have my studio set up now, well almost set up, and will be creating little things to look at. I will be working on getting my etsy shop going, and making things that are posted available.

In the next couple of days I'll have a list of my upcoming projects to keep an eye out for.
